is sponsoring a team to
participate in the 2008 LaPlata County
Relay for Life. If you have never participated,
or if you have participated in the past and want to
again, we invite members, friends and family, and other
community supporters to join us in this life-affirming
celebration.

of Dorothy! Do ya love it!!
Briefly,
The Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society
and is a "gathering where everyone
can participate in the fight against cancer." The
event will be held at Fort Lewis College on Friday,
June 20th. The celebration begins with
a Team Parade that will proceed
into a Survivor's Lap, followed
by a Community Carnival. As
the evening continues each team will keep a participant
on the track over a period of 24 hours. The list of
activities during this 24 hour period is long and fun,
fun, fun and includes music, luminaries, and extra
team activities.
There
are many ways you can join us. Sign up as a participant and
you can walk (or run, or dance, of skip and hop) during the
24 hour team event. You can also donate a luminary, buy a "Yellow Brick", help at
the team camp and/or with the carnival game, or just
donate money. The goal is to have fun, be of service
in our community, and raise money for ACS.
Two
ways to sign up: Online at www.laplatarelay.com. There is
a 3-step process. At the website go to "Join a Team" Look
for 4cGlad and go from there. This is an amazing website that
will provide you with tips, e-cards to send to your family, and
a way to keep track of the money you collect. (The page defaults
to a $100 donation but you can put in whatever amount you want
to). Or... We will sign you up. Contact

out and packets and flyers and the works. Another way to contact

paperwork at every upcoming event!
As
this event approaches we will send you updates, hints, and
encouragement. We will also be asking for a base committee
to help with the nitty-gritty. If this sounds like your cup
